Project Sifu brings together the art of martial arts training and the creative world of filmmaking to inspire and empower young people in the UK. By blending physical discipline with cinematic storytelling, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of cultural heritage, promote mental and physical well-being, and address critical issues like knife crime and violence.
Project Sifu: A Short Film & Documentary + Director Q&A
Date: Saturday 13 September 2025
Time: 2:40PM
Venue: Hackney Picturehouse, London (Free entry)
Our mission is to provide a unique platform for young participants to explore the rich tradition of martial arts cinema while developing valuable life skills. Through a series of workshops, participants will learn self-defense techniques, the principles of martial arts philosophy, and the technical skills needed to recreate iconic fight scenes from films. This project not only offers a creative outlet but also serves as a powerful tool for cultural exchange and community building.
Martial arts and cinema offer a unique combination of physical discipline and artistic expression. By engaging in these practices, participants not only gain physical strength and mental resilience but also learn valuable lessons in storytelling, teamwork, and cultural appreciation. This project is a celebration of these two powerful mediums and their potential to inspire and transform.
Workshops: Our workshops will start in February 2025. Participants will receive hands-on training in martial arts and filmmaking.
Fighting Spirit Film Festival 2025: Don’t miss our special screening of the project’s documentary and short film, showcasing the participants’ journeys and achievements.
We are a team of passionate educators, martial artists, filmmakers, and community advocates dedicated to promoting cultural exchange, personal growth, and social awareness through creative expression.
